About Anchor Point
We're a church in Carol Stream, Illinois, committed to loving our city, making a difference, and helping each person grow in their relationship with Jesus.
Our story
Anchor Point began in the fall of 2015 as a midweek gathering of twenty-five people in a living room. On February 26, 2017, we celebrated our official grand opening. We've grown since, but the core hasn't changed: ordinary people hooking their lives into what holds, and refusing to do it alone.
For eight of those years we existed as Village Church East and set up and tore down every week at Fountainview Athletic Center. Then, in 2026 we grew to become an independent church with a permanent home in Carol Stream, under our own name: Anchor Point.

What we believe
These are the convictions that hold us together, written plainly so you know exactly what you are walking into. Got a harder question? We'd genuinely love to talk it through.
Scripture is God's written revelation of Himself, of salvation, and of a life that holds: without error, inspired by Him, and authoritative over everyone, everywhere.
There is one God, Creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is equal in divine perfection while carrying out distinct, harmonious work.
God made people in His image to steward the earth. Yet since Adam all are born spiritually dead and stand in need of rescue. Jesus is the only answer to that need.
Jesus Christ died in our place for our sin and rose victorious. Faith in His deity, His atoning death, and His resurrection is the sole basis of salvation, by grace and not by our own work.
The Church is everyone who trusts in Jesus, joined together by the Holy Spirit. Every believer belongs in a local church, shares in the mission, and practices baptism and communion.
Jesus will return personally, bodily and visibly, to judge the living and the dead. Those who trust Him will live and reign with Him forever on a renewed earth.
Every person matters infinitely to God. The Church is called to protect and honor the sanctity of life, gender, singleness, marriage, and the family.
Elders
Four men who carry this church together. They teach, they pray, and they take out the chairs with everyone else.
Lead Pastor & Elder
Craig's passion is discipleship and leadership training. A native Canadian known for his animated teaching, he holds graduate degrees in Bible and communication and a Master of Divinity from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, and has served as a lead pastor for over 2 decades. An avid fly fisherman and golfer, Craig and his wife, Beth, have been blessed with four daughters.
Elder
Brent's joy is helping people find their footing in the church through group interaction. He practiced transactional law in the Chicago area for forty years, specializing in corporate and non-profit work, before retiring in 2014. He joins faith with profession through his work with the Christian Legal Society, Peacemaker Ministries, Administer Justice, and as a business law adjunct at Judson University. Brent and his wife have been blessed with two children and six grandchildren.
Elder
John and his wife, Deb, have two daughters and a brand new granddaughter, Peyton. John has served the church as Church treasurer, Director of Missions and Outreach, and most recently as Elder at Anchor Point Church. He has also served on the boards of three foreign mission agencies. A long term CPA, John serves as Chief Financial Officer for companies involved in real estate and venture capital. Outside of his work and ministry, John enjoys spending time with his family and is a devoted Chicago Cubs fan.
Elder
Darren loves studying the Bible and helping others do the same. He also enjoys discipling men, and his goal is for every man to become the pastor in their homes. When he is not doing those things, he is usually spending time with his wife and daughter, and their adorable black lab. He also likes reading, writing, driving, bike riding, and watching old movies and TV shows.
