8The Sea-Wary Example

  • Our lives are driven by our

  • Paul his body into subjection
  • if Paul had trouble, I probably will
  • Conclusion
  • Our lives are driven in the same way by our desires. If our desire of greed is stronger than our desire of contentment, we are driven to be creatures of discontent , unhappiness, and envy. If our desire for success is stronger than our desire for fairness, we are driven to be creatures of lying, cheating, and lust. If our desire for self-satisfaction is stronger than our desire for giving, we are driven to be creatures of selfishness, hate and murder.
  • This is man in his carnal state. Unholy, undesiring of God or anything of God. Yet this same God who we struggled so hard to avoid, fists flying in defiance, is the very God who stretched out His arms of acceptance and love. This is the basis of our salvation. Once His love takes hold of our lives, our directional wind changes. No longer are we driven by our own selfish desires, no longer are we concerned about ourselves first, no longer are we driven with winds of the world but winds of God. Our direction changes. Our attitudes change. Our lives are different because He does not simply renovate, He makes all things new.
